return to top menuI co-founded and ran a business called Rocket Dog Studio, Inc (no longer in business) while living in providence, RI in the 1990's. Our product line included reproductions of gargoyles and old colonial cemetery carvings cast out of hydrocal plaster and cement, and finished with various wax, pigments and paints. Our clients included galleries, gift shops, and individuals at an international level. These images are pages from our product catalog.
My main role was as the product line director, master sculptor and model maker, publicist and front-person.

“Happy and Gay” is a 10 minute 1930’s-styled cartoon musical with gay and lesbian cartoon animal characters singing and dancing. This is an original musical cartoon whose main purpose is to be a revisionist history document. It is responding to issues of censorship, prejudice and stereotype by re-placing gay and lesbian characters into a filmic document that could not and did not exist at the time it references because of dominant social, cultural, and religious moral codes of the time. Although generated using digital drawing techniques, the final filmic product, a 35mm print, will stand as the actual revisionist document as a way to complete the documenting intention of this project.

"Dem Bones Wiggle" - Director |
specs: 2005, digital, 1 min, B&W, sound
This is pixillation of people dressed in skeleton costumes set to a mix of Tiny Parham's Orchestra playing "Washboard Wiggle." The bones are plain old masking tape on top of black clothing. My Harvard students are the dancing skeletons.

"In Grace, Lorelei Pepi weaves a dark, dense tapestry of elemental images which serve to bathe and enfold her photographed female forms caught in quiet moments of revery, ecstasy and death. Clearly belonging in the incantory realm of Maya Deren, yet owing much to the layering techniques of Pat O'Neill, Grace draws one into a kind of mute collusion..." George Griffin, animation filmmaker

I designed a 2D animation layout in the primarily stop-motion animation short film. The main character is having a happy hallucinatory experience. The director asked for "Dr. Suess-like design." Color was created by another party.

Metapa Interactive - Creative Director |
Internet Start-Up based in Beverly Hills, CA (no longer active)
In 1999-2000, I served as Creative Director for a company developing online, interactive products. One of our first clients was Warner Brothers Online. We created half-a-dozen interactive online books for children using Warner Bros properties, such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, as seen here. These were the earliest forms of interactive ebooks for children, all built in Flash. The child hears a narrator's voice reading the story, the words highlight as they are read. The child can choose from four different words to "fill in the blank." Each word had its own animation that would play in the scene. |

Another Warners Online product were a series of "Look and Find" games. As the child clicks on the discovered image in the illustrated scene, it animates and then highlights in their "discovered items" box to the left. |

"Chowda' Heads" - character animation |
specs: 1997, trt 0:01:00, directed by Eli Roth, for broadcast tv but not released, mini-episodes
This was a pilot for a series of mini-episodes proposed to happen during the World Wide Wrestling Federatio nbroadcasts, responding tothe WWF frenzy that was happening at that time. I worked as an animator. The "Mark Twain" sample on the left is from one of the episodes. I was commissioned to create the animation on the right, the Gorilla Director, by the director/producer of the ChowdaHeads, Eli Roth, as a Producing Company signature piece. None of these made it to broadcast.
